The 2025 Nick Awards

 The 2025 Nick Awards were handed out on February 24 at the English Montreal School Board Central Head Office. Produced by Mike Cohen, Brigida Sellato and Sabrina Mendaglio, we do this each year in advance of the Oscars ceremony in Hollywood. We twin the titles of 2024 motion pictures and connect them to our staff.

It was nice to recognize Athina Galanogeorgos with the Lifetime Achievement Awards.

Not since her predecessor Bruce Roberts has an EMSB chef won as many awards as Enza.

The talented Tasso has only been at the head office for two years and won each time.

 A tradition continued during Academy Award season at the EMSB. Our Nick Awards, always named after  our Director General and a spoof on the Oscars, took place on March 12 at 6000 Fielding Avenue. A good time was had by all.

Kosta Alihos, retired now from Material Resources, receives the Lifetime Achievement Award from Nick Katalifos, Pela Nickoletopoulos and Jack Chadirdjian.

The 2018 Ann Marie Awards

The 2018 Ann Marie Awards at the EMSB Central Head Office on Fielding Avenue  was a splendid affair. This our traditional tongue-in-cheek version of the Academy Awards, held days before the Oscars. There was one serious piece of recognition: The Lifetime Achievement Award for Diane Longo.

Every year, prior to the Academy Awards, the EMSB Central head office brings you our own rendition and names the ceremony after the sitting Director General. The 2016 Ann Maries were presented by DG Ann Marie Matherson. Thanks to my colleague Brigida Sellato for her extraordinary talents in powerpoint.

EMSB Head Office Halloween 2015 Looks Back at the 1980s

Thanks to so many of our staff for showing their Halloween spirit again this year. The Social Committee, chaired by Brigit Sellato, came up with another great theme: the 80s. Some folks were very creative. Some of those in costume were first called up to compete in a game of 1980s Jeopardy. From that group, a judging panel of the Director General, Deputies Director General and Secretary General, chose a winner. It was the Education and Technology Services "Pac Men." Thanks to Lien Nguyen for taking the photos which you can see in this link.

Next on the agenda for the Social Committee will be our annual spoof of the Academy Awards. Previously known as The Charleys, The Tonys, The Marios and The Stockers (in honour of our DG), we will be bringing you the Ann Maries.
